Privacy Policy

Effective date / last updated: August 3, 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains what EasyTextNow® ("we", "us", "our") — a brand of BYTEWONDERS LLC, 500 Westover Dr #30294, Sanford, NC 27330, USA — collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to easytextnow.com and our messaging service. By using the site or the service you agree to this Policy.

Information we collect

  • From the payer: your email address and mobile phone number, your name if you provide it, and the federal register (BOP) number you enter to identify the incarcerated person you are supporting.
  • Payment information: card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number — Stripe handles it directly. We keep a record of the transaction (amount, date, last-four, and the Stripe customer/subscription identifiers).
  • Public inmate data: when you enter a register number we look it up against the U.S. Bureau of Prisons public inmate locator to confirm the name and facility. We store the register number and the returned name/facility to route service correctly.
  • Message content and routing data: to deliver messages we necessarily process the content of the SMS, emails, and photos that pass through the service, together with the routing data around them (sender, recipient, timestamps, delivery status). Message content is also processed by the automated screening systems described below.
  • Customer support information: the information you send us when you contact support, kept to resolve your inquiry and for our records.
  • Technical data: IP address, device/browser information, and security signals (including Cloudflare Turnstile) used to prevent fraud and abuse.

How we use it

To provide and operate the service, verify the inmate, process your payment, deliver messages, screen traffic for spam, fraud, and prohibited content, send you receipts and account notices, provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with law.

Automated screening & AI processing

  • Security screening: messages that pass through the service are automatically screened by software — including third-party artificial-intelligence models — to detect spam, fraud, and content that violates our Terms or facility rules. Messages flagged by screening may be delayed, blocked, or reviewed.
  • Optional AI features: some plans include features (such as an AI chat assistant and web-search summaries) that the incarcerated person invokes by sending a request. The text of those requests is sent to third-party AI providers to generate the response. Do not include sensitive personal information in AI feature requests.
  • No significant automated decisions: we do not make fully automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you. Automated screening outcomes (for example, a blocked message) can be reviewed by a human on request — contact support.

Multi-payer privacy

An incarcerated person may be supported by more than one payer. We never disclose to any payer that other payers exist, who they are, or any of their information. Each payer's account, payments, and contact details are kept independent and private.

Who we share with

We share data only with service providers that help us run the service, under contract and only as needed: Stripe (payments), our telephony/SMS provider, our email delivery providers, our cloud hosting provider, our automated-screening and AI processors (message content, solely to provide the screening and AI features described above), our print-and-mail fulfillment partner (for photo prints: the images to be printed and the facility mailing address), and the corrections communications systems required to reach the inmate. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information if required by law (including subpoenas and lawful requests from correctional or law-enforcement authorities) or to protect our rights and users' safety.

Cookies, Turnstile & tracking

We use functional cookies needed to run the site. Our protected forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated abuse. Cloudflare may process security signals such as IP address, browser and device characteristics, TLS fingerprints, interaction signals, and the widget's site key and origin. The short-lived verification token is sent only with the protected request; EasyTextNow does not put it in cookies or browser storage and does not persist it in our database. Turnstile processing is subject to Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Policy. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage (pages visited, general region, device type) so we can improve the site. Analytics data is not used for advertising, GA4 does not log or store full IP addresses, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. We do not use advertising or social-media tracking cookies, and we do not serve targeted advertising. Because there is no industry consensus on how to respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, we do not respond to them — but as we do not track you across other websites, the practical effect is the same.

SMS data

If you opt in to SMS, we use your number to send you account and delivery notifications. Consent to receive SMS is not a condition of purchase beyond the notifications tied to your order. Mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our SMS Terms.

Retention & security

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal/accounting obligations, and resolve disputes, after which it is deleted or anonymized. You may request earlier deletion as described under "Your privacy rights". We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, secret management). No method is 100% secure.

Minors

The site and the payer service are intended for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your privacy rights

Anyone may request access to, correction of, portability of, or deletion of their personal information, and may unsubscribe from SMS at any time (reply STOP). We verify requests by matching the email or phone number on the account, and respond within 45 days. We will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

California (CCPA/CPRA): in the preceding 12 months we collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email, phone number, the inmate's register number); commercial information (transactions and subscriptions); audio/visual information (photos submitted for printing); internet or network activity (device and usage data); and the content of communications sent through the service. We collect them from you, from your device, and from the BOP public locator, and we use and disclose them only as described in this Policy. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that trigger a right to limit. California residents have the rights to know/access, correct, delete, and port their information, and may designate an authorized agent to act for them. Residents of other U.S. states with privacy laws have the equivalent rights provided by their state's law.

Canada (PIPEDA): Canadian users may request access to and correction of their personal information. Your information is processed and stored in the United States.

EEA/UK (GDPR): if you use the service from the EEA or UK, our lawful bases are contract performance, our legitimate interests (security and fraud prevention), consent (SMS notifications), and legal obligations. You additionally have the rights to object to or restrict processing and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Data is transferred to and processed in the United States.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The current version, with its effective date, is always posted on this page; material changes will be announced on the site or sent to the contact information on file. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
